Book Description

Radar Interference Matters is rooted in 25 years of real-world radar interference experience. The author began work on a radar interference investigation in 2000, expecting it to last six months – yet aspects are still ongoing. Many interference and coexistence cases followed over the years, and these have shaped a wider understanding of spectrum coexistence, safeguarding, and interference management. Professionals often had to “feel their way through” these problems due to a lack of structured guidance. That gap in practical, experience-based knowledge provided the inspiration for the book.

Each chapter has been inspired by real interference, coexistence and spectrum planning cases spanning air traffic control, air defence, space defence, vessel tracking service and meteorological radars. One chapter is dedicated to the problems of wind turbine interference to radar, and features updates on the author’s previous book on the topic. The book includes a bibliography, and a chapter identifying future work in spectrum engineering, including AI applications and evolving regulatory needs.

The book is aimed at radar and spectrum engineers who are addressing radar interference matters, as well as researchers and students learning about radar interference.
