About the Author

Arif Ahmed Sekh is a senior researcher at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, with extensive experience in the fields of Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence. Previously, he served as an assistant professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at XIM University, Bhubaneswar, India, and held a postdoctoral research fellowship at UiT in Tromsø, Norway. From 2009 to 2019, he was an assistant professor at the Haldia Institute of Technology, India. In addition to his academic roles, he holds invited positions as a Research Consultant at the Imaging Media Research Centre at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Korea, and at the School of Electrical Sciences at IIT Bhubaneswar, India. He earned his PhD from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur, India, and completed his undergraduate studies at Burdwan University. Arif’s research spans diverse disciplines, applying computer vision and AI to multidisciplinary environments, including collaborations across computer science, physics, and biology. His work has been recognized through his participation in approximately 25 conference and workshop program committees, and he has held key roles such as Organizing Chair for ICITAM 2017 and Publication Chair for ICITAM 2019. He has also been an organizing member of the ICMC conferences in 2013, 2015, and 2019.

Dilip K Prasad is a Professor of Computer Science at UiT The Arctic University of Norway and an internationally recognized expert in artificial intelligence, ethics, and diversity policy. He is an associate editor at Nature Scientific Data. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, India. Dr Prasad’s career spans academia and industry, including five years working with IBM, Infosys, Mediatek, and Philips. He later served as a Senior Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University (2015–2019) and a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore (2012–2015). His entrepreneurial expertise was honed through the prestigious Kauffman Global Scholarship in 2011, where he trained at Harvard, MIT, Stanford, and the Kauffman Foundation. Dr Prasad has co-authored over 130 internationally peer-reviewed research articles and patents, and his contributions have earned him several accolades, including the Rolls-Royce Inventor Award in 2016. He is also a co-founder of the Bio-AI Lab at UiT, where his research focuses on sustainable AI, scalable AI, interpretable AI, and AI applications in life sciences. His leadership in securing over €25 million in research and innovation grants from the European Union and the Research Council of Norway highlights his impact in the field. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of artificial intelligence and diversity policy, Dr Dilip K Prasad has been honored with several prestigious awards. He was named “The Distinguished Researcher of the Year in Robotics & Artificial Intelligence” by the Asian African Economic Forum in 2024 and recognized as the “Most Admired Global Indian 2024” by Passion Vista Magazine. Additionally, he was featured among the “Top Business Leaders from Asia 2024” by Global Leaders Today Magazine and ranked in the “Top 10 Best Global Business Leaders of 2024” by The Business Frontier. In 2023, he was also highlighted as one of the “Top 10 NTU Singapore Alumni Leaders” by CEO Insights Magazine. A strong advocate for inclusivity in technology, Dr Prasad has published extensively on AI ethics, gender, and diversity, and co-authored the book Interpretability in Deep Learning (, 2023) and Cloud Computing for Everyone (, 2025). His work continues to drive conversations around creating equitable and diverse AI systems.
