Book Description
“Anyone interested in developing Flutter applications for Android or iOS should have a copy of this book on their desk.” – Amazon 5-star review
Lauded as the ‘Flutter bible’ for mobile app developers, this recipe-based guide teaches best practices for building robust, production-ready applications and solving cross-platform development challenges.
From setting up your development environment to error handling, debugging, and testing, Flutter Cookbook covers both the how-tos and the principles behind them. You’ll tackle UI/UX design, API integration, animations, application state management, routing, web services, and local data persistence.
A dedicated section covers Firebase and its machine learning capabilities, including building AI-powered features with ML Kit and the Gemini APIs. You’ll go beyond simple AI interactions to build agentic apps with agent loops, plan-act-reflect workflows, multi-agent routing, tool use with the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and runtime-generated UIs.
You’ll also learn to build apps for iOS and Android from a single codebase, extend them to web and desktop platforms including Windows, macOS, and Linux, and deploy cross-platform apps to the App Store and Google Play. By the end, you’ll be equipped to build, test, and deliver fully functional Flutter applications.
What you will learn
- Build apps for iOS, Android, web, and desktop
- Add AI-powered features using ML Kit and Gemini APIs
- Build agentic apps with agent loops, multi-agent routing, and MCP tool use
- Manage application state with Provider and Riverpod
- Handle asynchronous programming with Future and Stream
- Integrate Firebase for authentication, storage, and ML capabilities
- Structure apps using layered architecture patterns
- Write unit, widget, and integration tests for Flutter apps
- Deploy to the App Store and Google Play, and deliver over-the-air updates without a store release

About the Author
Simone Alessandria wrote his first program at the age of 12, a text-based fantasy game for the Commodore 64. Today, he is a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), author, speaker, software architect, and proud coder. He is the founder and owner of Softwarehouseit, where his mission is to help developers achieve more through training and mentoring. He has authored several books on Flutter, including Flutter Projects, published by Packt, and has created online courses for Pluralsight, Udemy, and Kodeco.
Martino Yovo taught himself to code on a phone while trying to rebuild the University of Lomé’s website. He has been building software ever since, focusing on agentic AI, developer tooling, and helping other developers work with emerging technologies.
He is a Google Developer Expert in Flutter and Dart, has contributed to more than 100 open-source projects, and speaks at conferences across the United States, Europe, and Africa, including UN Open Source Week. He also co-founded TDEV, a community of more than 10,000 developers working to make software development more accessible across Africa.
Abu Anwar wrote his first line of code at the age of 13, building a website for himself just for fun. Today, he is a Google Developer Expert in Flutter, the founder of The Flutter Way, LLC, and the creator of the second most-subscribed Flutter channel on YouTube. He builds apps used by millions of people, with a particular passion for design, animation, and performance. He published his first Flutter tutorial during the COVID-19 pandemic, not expecting much from it. The response was overwhelming, and he has continued creating content ever since. Today, his channel features more than 150 videos with over 13 million views, while his 20+ open-source projects have earned more than 30,000 stars on GitHub. He believes the fastest way to learn something is to build it and hopes readers will build along with him throughout this book.
