About the Author
Soichiro Takagiis Professor at the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies at The University of Tokyo. He received his PhD in information studies from The University of Tokyo. Dr Takagi serves as a fellow at the Art Center of The University of Tokyo and a senior research fellow at Center for Global Communications (GLOCOM) at the International University of Japan (IUJ). Previously, he was an Asia Program Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School. Dr Takagi’s major field is information economics and innovation. His research includes the impact of technology on economics, namely idea generation for innovation and the incorporation of the arts into business innovation. He has authored many books and articles, his books include Deframing Strategy: How Digital Technologies are Transforming Businesses and Organizations, and How We Can Cope with It (World Scientific), vReweaving the Economy: How IT Affects the Borders of Country and Organization (University of Tokyo Press), and Blockchain Economics: Implications of Distributed Ledgers (World Scientific, co-authored). He received the KDDI Foundation Award in 2019.
Frank Wittereceived his PhD in Theoretical Physics (1995) from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He worked as an Assistant and Associate Professor in Physics & Astronomy at Utrecht University and University College Utrecht, in the Netherlands, from 1996 to 2010, publishing on problems in elementary particle theory, (quantum) gravitational theory, and quantum game theory. In 2010, he accepted a position in the Department of Economics of University College London. He is currently an Associate Professor in Economics there and teaches Economics of Science, Environmental Economics, and Computational Methods in Economics. Frank has been a visiting fellow at St. John’s College, Cambridge (UK, 2002), academic visitor at the Quantum Optics & Laser Science group of Imperial College London (UK, 2009), and International Visiting Fellow at Grinnell College (US, 2012). His current research focuses on the applications of physics-inspired methods to problems in environmental economics, economics of science, and the economics of networks.
About the AuthorsDarcy W E Allenis an Associate Professor of economics at RMIT University and a Director of the Digital Economy Council of Australia. He has published five books and over 25 peer reviewed journal articles on topics including cryptodemocracy, innovation policy, token airdrops, web3 governance and regulatory reform. His work has been published in journals including Research Policy, the Harvard Negotiation Law Review and the Journal of Business Research. His latest book with Cambridge University Press is Institutional Acceleration: The Consequences of Technological Change for a Digital Economy (with Chris Berg and Jason Potts) and explores how technologies such as blockchains, artificial intelligence, and low earth orbit satellites are transitioning us to a new digital economy.
Chris Bergis a Professor of Economics at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. He co-founded the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub, the world’s first dedicated social science research centre studying blockchain technology. Professor Berg is one of Australia’s most prominent voices for free markets and individual liberty, and a leading global authority on regulation, technological change, and civil liberties. He is a highly experienced research leader specialising in the creation and development of large high impact research teams. He is the author of twelve books, including The New Technologies of Freedom (American Institute for Economic Research, 2020), Understanding the Blockchain Economy (Edward Elgar, 2019), and The Libertarian Alternative (Melbourne University Press, 2016). He has published more than 30 peer reviewed papers including papers in Management Science, Research Policy, the Journal of Institutional Economics, the Australian Journal of Political Science, and Trends in Anaesthesia and Critical Care.
