About the Author

Frank H. P. Fitzek is a Professor and head of the “Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks” at TU Dresden coordinating the 5G Lab Germany. He is the spokesman of the DFG Cluster of Excellence “Center for Tactile Internet” (CeTI).

He received his diploma (Dipl.-Ing.) degree in electrical engineering from the University of Technology – Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) – Aachen, Germany, in 1997 and his Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University Berlin, Germany in 2002 and became Adjunct Professor at the University of Ferrara, Italy in the same year. In 2003 he joined Aalborg University as Professor

Professor Boche studied Information Technology and Mathematics at the University of Dresden, and received a doctorate in Engineering from TU Dresden as well as a doctorate in Mathematics from TU Berlin. In 2002 he assumed a professorship at TU Berlin. He was Head of Broadband Mobile Communications Department at HHI and Director of the Fraunhofer German-Sino Lab for Mobile Communications (FhG-MCI). Since 2010, Professor Boche has been TUM Professor of Theoretical Information Technology. He is a member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Science and the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.

Professor Boche`s research topics are Theory of Wireless Networks and Applied Mathematics, like Approximation Theory, Optimization and Game Theory and Quantum Information Theory, among others.

Wolfgang Kellerer is full professor and head of the Chair of Communication Networks in the Department of Computer Engineering of the School of Computation, Information and Technology at Technical University of Munich (TUM), Munich, Germany. He is internationally recognized for his fundamental research on adaptive, programmable communication networks. His focus is on flexible and adaptive resource management and control of communication systems to support heterogeneous requirements including ultra-low latencies, tactile control and resilience towards 6G. Before he joined TUM, Wolfgang Kellerer pursued an industrial career being more than ten years with NTT DOCOMO’s European research institute in Munich, Germany. His last position was head of the research department for wireless communication and networking, contributing to research and standardization of LTE-A and 5G technologies. In 2015, he was awarded with the prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant from the European Commission for his research on network flexibility. He was a co-recipient of the ACM SIGCOMM Best of CCR 2019 award. In 2020, he received the IEEE ComSoc Selected Publication award. He currently serves as an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management and as an area editor for IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials. He is a member of ACM, VDE ITG and a Senior Member of IEEE.

Patrick Seeling is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Central Michigan University, USA. He received his diploma (Dipl.-Ing.) degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Technical University Berlin, Germany, in 2002 and his his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University (ASU), USA, in 2005. He was an Associated Faculty at ASU until 2008 and an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point until 2011. In 2011, he joined Central Michigan University as Assistant Professor, where he became a tenured Associate Professor in 2015 and a Full Professor in 2018.
